Platinum Facilities Maintenance Services is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the Grosvenor Estates contract across Mayfair and Belgravia, London. You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault finding and mechanical works across a 28-site estate.

The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, good diagnostic skills and the ability to work safely within occupied buildings.

Qualifications

• Level 2/3 City & Guilds or NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years' experience in commercial facilities maintenance.

About the Contract – Grosvenor Estates, Mayfair & Belgravia

The Grosvenor Estates contract covers a 28-site estate across Mayfair and Belgravia, providing an exciting and technically varied working environment for an experienced Mechanical Engineer.

Working across multiple properties, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of mechanical building services and plant, responding to reactive maintenance requirements and delivering planned preventative maintenance to a consistently high standard.

The estate environment is busy and customer-focused, with a strong emphasis on presentation, reliability, compliance and service delivery.

The role will involve working across different buildings and locations, requiring an engineer who is adaptable, organised and confident working independently while also being part of a wider engineering and facilities management team.

You will interact with site management, client representatives, contractors, occupiers and other engineering disciplines on a regular basis.

Due to the nature of the estate, no two days are necessarily the same. The role provides an excellent opportunity for a mechanically qualified engineer to broaden their experience across a varied portfolio of prestigious properties in Mayfair and Belgravia.

The Role – Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a skilled, proactive and customer-focused Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team on the Grosvenor Estates contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding and mechanical engineering works across the 28-site estate.

This is a hands‑on engineering position requiring strong mechanical knowledge, good diagnostic skills and the ability to work safely and professionally within occupied buildings.

You will work closely with the Site Management team, Engineering Management, client representatives, contractors and other engineers to ensure mechanical systems and building services remain safe, reliable and operational.

Working Pattern

Monday to Friday

08:00 – 17:00

Plenty of overtime opportunities available.

Travel between properties within the Mayfair and Belgravia estate will be required as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the 28-site estate.
• Responding to reactive mechanical maintenance requests and breakdowns.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out effective repairs.
• Maintaining mechanical plant, equipment and building services to a high standard.
• Carrying out inspections and routine checks of mechanical systems.
• Working on heating, hot water, ventilation, air conditioning and associated mechanical building services.
• Carrying out routine maintenance and basic fault finding on pumps, valves, motors, fans and associated mechanical equipment.
• Supporting the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Maintaining heating and hot water systems.
• Carrying out checks and maintenance on mechanical plant rooms and associated equipment.
• Identifying potential defects and reporting issues before they develop into major faults.
• Responding promptly to emergency breakdowns and urgent maintenance requests.
• Completing reactive works within agreed response and completion times.
• Working across multiple properties and adapting to different building environments.
• Supporting the site team with technical fault finding and problem solving.
• Working alongside electrical engineers and other specialist contractors where required.
• Liaising professionally with client representatives, occupiers, site management and contractors.
• Supervising and coordinating subcontractors when required.
• Ensuring subcontractor works are completed safely, correctly and within agreed timescales.
• Issuing and complying with permits to work and safe systems of work where required.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and completing job documentation.
• Closing out completed PPM and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with company procedures, client requirements and relevant legislation.
• Supporting compliance, health & safety and environmental requirements across the estate.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within plant rooms, service areas and occupied buildings.
• Ordering materials and reporting requirements for replacement parts and equipment.
• Maintaining appropriate engineering standards across all properties.
• Supporting planned projects, refurbishment works and improvement programmes when required.
• Assisting with emergency response and out-of-hours requirements when necessary.
• Working closely with the Engineering Manager, Site Manager and wider facilities management team.

The successful candidate should have practical experience working with a range of commercial mechanical building services, which may include:

• Heating systems
• Hot water systems
• HVAC systems
• Air handling units (AHUs)
• Fan coil units (FCUs)
• Pumps and circulation systems
• Motors and fans
• Ventilation systems
• Pressurisation systems
• Expansion vessels
• Boilers and associated plant

• BMS-controlled mechanical plant
• General commercial mechanical services

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Level 2/3 City & Guilds / NVQ qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent.
• 3–5 years' experience within commercial Facilities Maintenance – essential.
• Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and proven practical experience.
• Experience working within commercial buildings or a similar high-specification environment.
• Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience maintaining HVAC and commercial building services.
• Ability to work across multiple sites and prioritise competing workloads.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe systems of work.
• Experience working with permits to work and risk assessments.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
• A proactive approach to maintenance and problem solving.
• Call out 1 in 4 required

Desirable Qualifications:

• Level 2 Plumbing or NVQ Level 3.
• HVAC qualifications.
• Legionella awareness / water hygiene experience.
• BMS experience.Manufacturer-specific training.
• Experience working within Grade A, luxury residential, commercial or high-end property environments.
• Previous experience working on a large multi-site estate.
• Experience working within central London.
