Job summary

Velocity Recruitment Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a leading global provider for a Mechanical Engineer to join their Kings Cross team in London. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance of Heating & Air-conditioning systems and other mechanical plant within a major facility.

You will ensure routine maintenance meets SLAs, manage cooling towers and water systems in a commercial environment, and keep thorough maintenance records while applying safe working practices and lifelong learning

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining Pumps, Motors and Valves.
• Experience operating Cooling Towers.
• Experience in a commercial environment.
• FM/Building services experience.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety obligations for maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works on Heating & Air-conditioning plant to meet SLAs.
• Maintain evaporative cooling systems and domestic water systems where applicable and compliant with standards.
• Swiftly rectify plant faults to keep systems in serviceable order.
• Carry out maintenance on other site plant as required.
• Ensure suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance tasks.
• Keep comprehensive maintenance records using required forms.
• Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for tasks to ensure safe working practices.
• Provide a safe and healthy working environment and comply with company/site policies.
• Maintain commitment to personal development and lifelong learning to keep skills up to date.

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

My client is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management, are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer, to join the team located in Kings Cross, to work for an established blue-chip contract. The contract is for one of the largest, well know tech companies globally and they are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to look after the building maintenance of their headquarters.

Purpose of Job

To carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works to client Heating & Air-Conditioning Systems in accordance with agreed service levels. Also to look after all mechanical/plumbing aspects of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that routine maintenance is carried out to all Heating & Air-conditioning plant to meet and exceed expectations and agreed service level agreements.
• Ensure that Evaporative Cooling Systems and Domestic water systems are maintained to comply with the requirements of the L8 standard.
• Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times.
• To carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works to other site plant as required.
• Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance of the above plant.
• Ensure that comprehensive maintenance records are kept in the form of “Frontline” task sheets.
• Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices
• Ensure the provision of a safe & healthy working environment, and ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, as well as client site policies, procedures and working arrangements, as required.
• Ensure that professional and technical skills are maintained through a commitment to personal development and life-long-learning.

Experience

• Experience of maintaining Pumps, Motors and Valves
• Experience of operating Cooling Towers
• Experience working in a commercial environment
• Building Maintenance/Services experience (Mechanical)
• Sound understanding and experience of meeting health and safety obligations with regard to maintenance activities

Person Specification

• Qualified in Mechanical or Plumbing Engineering within a recognised institution (NVQ/C&Gs)
• Formally trained in mechanical services maintenance
• Previous experience in FM / Building services
• Basic skills on building management systems would be an advantage
• Formal health and safety training (Desirable)
