Job summary

Nicholas Associates Group Limited is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer in Birmingham to join a growing MEP Building Services consultancy. You will work on a diverse portfolio including commercial, residential, healthcare, education and mixed-use projects.

You will design mechanical systems (HVAC, heating, ventilation, water services), produce calculations and drawings, and liaise with the wider project team. Chartership progression is supported.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience in an MEP Consultancy or Building Services environment.
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and British Standards.
• Experience using Hevacomp, IES, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Chartership is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and specification of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water, and public health.
• Produce calculations, technical reports, and design drawings.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and wider project teams.
• Attend client meetings and site visits as required.
• Support projects from concept through to completion.
• Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards.
• Contribute to delivering projects on time and within budget.

The Opportunity

An established and growing MEP Building Services Consultancy in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Mechanical Engineer to join its dynamic design team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer who is looking to develop their career across a diverse range of projects including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specification of mechanical building services systems including:
  • HVAC
  • Heating systems
  • Ventilation
  • Domestic water services
  • Public health systems
• Produce calculations, technical reports, and design drawings.
• Work closely with electrical engineers and wider project teams.
• Attend client meetings and site visits where required.
• Support projects from concept through to completion.
• Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards.

Requirements

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Working towards Chartership (desirable but not essential).
