Job description

Mechanical & Electrical Technician (wiring inspection and installation), Bristol

This job involves maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems on the UK’s waterways, including pumps, bridges, and locks. The role requires technical expertise in electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and safe isolation procedures, primarily for hydraulics and electrical systems.

The position is based in Bristol, with travel along the regional network, and occasional work in other areas of Wales & Southwest. The candidate must reside near these areas and have relevant qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance and repair of M&E structures, plant, and equipment.
  • Support safety procedures and manage volunteers when necessary.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance needs ensuring safety and network availability.
  • Inspect, monitor, and report on the condition of assets.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Trust values.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Experience in fault finding and fixing electrical and mechanical assets.
  • Qualifications such as C&G2391/2, NVQ3 in Electrical Discipline, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience as an Electrical Engineer.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical control panels, and safe working practices.
  • Full driving license and good communication skills.
Additional Information:
