Job summary

Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd in Leeds is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Fitter to service, maintain and repair locomotives at the Leeds Vehicle Maintenance Facility (LVMF). First-day expectations include safety commitment, apprenticeship or time-served background, and knowledge of electrical/mechanical maintenance; rolling stock knowledge is advantageous.

The role requires adherence to safety standards, following engineering procedures, and accurate maintenance documentation.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safe working practices.
• Experience via an apprenticeship or time served.
• Experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of rolling stock would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to health & safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards.
• Ensure Freightliner company engineering standards and procedures are applied and followed.
• Maintain, service, fault find and repair locomotives in accordance with approved maintenance plans.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed to company standards.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment.

Salary: £47,147.00p/a

Who are we looking for? A vacancy has arisen for a multi skilled fitter to undertake the servicing, maintenance and repair of Locomotives at our Leeds Vehicle Maintenance Facility (LVMF).

On your first day, we’ll expect you to have: Commitment to safe working practices Experience via an apprenticeship or time served Experience in electrical and / or mechanical maintenance activities Knowledge of rolling stock would be advantageous
