Job summary

H9 Technical in Stockport is seeking a Design Engineer – Mechanical to join a close-knit engineering team. You will design and develop mechanical components and assemblies from concept to manufacture, using CNC machined parts, enclosures and precision fittings to turn ideas into robust, production-ready designs.

The role requires a degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, solid CAD experience (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or similar), and a hands-on, detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
• Experience designing machined components and assemblies.
• Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or similar).
• Strong understanding of materials, tolerancing and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on approach with attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Confident communicator in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop mechanical designs and 3D models using CAD software
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs and documentation
• Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to optimise for machining and assembly
• Support prototype builds, testing and product validation
• Drive continuous improvement of existing designs for performance and cost
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality and procurement
