Job summary

Ingersoll Rand plc in Bradford is seeking a Mechanical Design & Development Engineer to lead the design and development of new products and support improvements across the Transport Solutions portfolio. You will design, validate, and industrialise products, while collaborating with product management, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 4+ years in product development, and strong CAD/GD&T skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
4+ years in product development, cost-down, value engineering, or design optimisation.
Experience with rotating equipment, pneumatic systems, suspension systems, braking systems, commercial vehicles, industrial machinery, or similar mechanical products.
Ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
Lean, DFSS, or project management methodologies (PMP/Prince2) preferred.
Solid CAD skills including part/assembly design and drawings with GD&T.
Experience with BOM management and SAP interactions.

Responsibilities

Design and develop new products, systems, and sub-assemblies per requirements, specifications, and gate reviews.
Collaborate with Product Management, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality and Operations to deliver NPD and i2V projects.
Incorporate Voice of Customer insights into new designs and value engineering initiatives.
