Job summary

Assystem is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work at a customer site in Warrington on a contract basis. The role requires delivering robust mechanical designs across the product lifecycle, collaborating with manufacturing and service engineering, and ensuring design integrity and standards compliance.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, experience in design safety justification activities, and the ability to work across disciplines in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
• Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline.
• Ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
• Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and justification.
• Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards.
• Experience as design engineer operating across the product life cycle, undertaking design safety justification activities.
• Experience in development of methods, standards and processes.

Responsibilities

• To understand Product system/sub-system requirements and derive Component requirements at task level.
• To produce robust design solutions which are insensitive to variation to address specified requirements.
• To collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders.
• To search for, capture, store, and re-use knowledge relating to design activity.
• To understand and apply the commodity standards and to create new standards where none exist.
• To liaise with manufacturing and service engineering to actively integrate the experience and knowledge from these areas.
• To check own and others' design solutions and technical for completeness and correctness.
