TTP in Melbourn (near Cambridge) seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Life Science team and tackle challenging problems at the interface of biology, chemistry and technology. You’ll contribute from concept to detailed design, prototyping and product development for genomics and molecular synthesis instruments.

You’ll collaborate with molecular biologists, chemists and engineers, applying strong CAD skills to create robust assemblies and reliable instruments, with ownership of design

Qualificações

• Strong experience in mechanical design and development of complex products or instruments.
• Excellent 3D CAD skills, SolidWorks and Onshape.
• Understanding of mechanical and electromechanical system design.
• Experience taking designs from concepts through prototyping and testing.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture.
• Ability to perform tolerance analysis and develop robust assemblies.
• Experience with microfluidics, liquid handling or life-science instruments.
• Experience designing assembly jigs, fixtures and test equipment.
• Experience with risk assessments (dfMEA and pfMEA).
• Experience sourcing custom components and working with suppliers.
• Experience with rapid prototyping, visualization and rendering to communicate concepts.

Responsabilidades

• Develop mechanical design from concept through detailed engineering, prototyping and testing.
• Collaborate with molecular biologists, chemists and engineers across disciplines.
• Own design deliverables and manage competing priorities.
• Design precision motion systems, fixtures and test equipment for life-science instruments.
