Job summary

Newton Colmore Consulting in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of cutting-edge genomics instrumentation. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to design and develop innovative devices for high-throughput workflows and precision diagnostics.

The role requires a background in mechanical engineering and experience in product design, ideally in medical devices or scientific instrumentation, plus familiarity with regulated environments

Qualifications

• Experience in product design and development, ideally within medical devices or genomic instrumentation.
• A background in mechanical engineering is essential.
• Experience in regulated environments (ISO 13485, FDA QSR) is beneficial.
• A few years of industry experience with full product lifecycle exposure.

A growing biotechnology company, based in Cambridge, is currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of cutting-edge genomics instrumentation.

You will be working within a multidisciplinary team of engineering experts, including physicists, electronics engineers, software developers, and life sciences specialists. You’ll be a key member of the team, contributing to the design and development of innovative devices that enable high-throughput genomic workflows and precision diagnostics.

We’re looking for someone with experience in product design and development, ideally within medical devices, diagnostics, or scientific instrumentation. A background in mechanical engineering is essential, and experience working in regulated environments (ISO 13485, FDA QSR) would be highly beneficial.

The ideal candidate will have a few years of industry experience and be looking to take the next step in their career.
