Job summary

Newton Colmore Consulting in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of cutting-edge genomics instrumentation. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to design and develop innovative devices for high-throughput workflows and precision diagnostics.

The role requires a background in mechanical engineering and experience in product design, ideally in medical devices or scientific instrumentation, plus familiarity with regulated environments

Qualifications

• Experience in product design and development, ideally within medical devices or genomic instrumentation.
• A background in mechanical engineering is essential.
• Experience in regulated environments (ISO 13485, FDA QSR) is beneficial.
• A few years of industry experience with full product lifecycle exposure.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components for genomics instrumentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physics, electronics and software.
• Support concepts from prototyping through design for manufacture and launch.
