Job summary

Recruit Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team in Suffolk/East Anglia. The role involves taking designs from concept through to manufacture, installation, and client sign-off on technically challenging projects.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support the development of junior engineers while delivering innovative engineering solutions and maintaining high quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in mechanical design in manufacturing or project-based settings.
• Proficient in 3D CAD (Inventor/AutoCAD/SolidWorks).
• Experience producing manufacturing drawings and technical docs.
• Knowledge of FEA and engineering calculations.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality and safety standards are maintained across projects.
• Produce and review detailed drawings and BOMs.
• Support bid and proposal activities, including cost estimation.
• Mentor junior engineers and support CPD initiatives.
• Carry out design calculations using hand calcs, spreadsheets, FEA.
