Job summary

Arden White Limited seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for a Formula 1 project in Northampton. The role is an initial 12-month contract inside IR35, focusing on concept design of highly stressed metallic parts and powertrain components.

You will deliver engineering solutions from concept through prove-out to race introduction, collaborating with multiple departments to ensure right-first-time results and robust design releases.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Fluent in Siemens NX or Catia solid modelling.
• Experience in concept design of highly stressed metallic parts.
• Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines and energy recovery systems.
• Stable employment history and eligible to work in the UK (no sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Deliver engineering excellence from concept to race introduction.
• Act as specialist for key components/systems on the Power Unit.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure right first time results.
• Write and review technical reports and test requests.
• Liaise with internal and external suppliers as part of the engineering journey.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Formula 1 - Northampton – Initial 12 month contract

This amazing long term contract role for a mechanical design engineer a is a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise and skills with a world leading Formula 1 organisation.

You will be a key member within the team and the person that secures this position will be crucial to the success of this dynamic company on its F1 projects. The duration of this contract is estimated to be 12 months minimum and will be inside IR35.

What you will do

• We're looking for Mechanical Designers with experience of using Siemens NX OR Catia and who are capable of demonstrating recent experience of concept design of highly stressed metallic parts, ideally with experience of powertrain design.
• In this role you will be the specialist for key components / systems on the Power Unit.
• You will deliver engineering excellence from concept, through prove-out, to race introduction, working closely with other departments to ensure right first time, every time.

What you will need

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or experience in lieu
• Be fluent on NX or Catia solid modelling.
• Be capable of demonstrating recent experience of concept design of highly stressed parts
• Strong knowedge of internal combustion engines, their systems & energy recovery systems (across a broad spectrum)
• Consistent & stable history of employment/engagement
• Authorised to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)

Success in this role

• Convert your creative, innovative ideas into hardware that will make a difference at the race track, within weeks of being conceived
• Create and validate novel engineering design solutions, supported by right first time principles and analysis, that meet demanding performance and cost targets
• Create robust and versatile models to demonstrate concepts, in both solids and surfaces, with engineering drawings to complement design release
• Technically develop Power Unit components and systems
• Solve complex problems and analyse failures
• Write test requests, review results, and write technical reports
• Build strong inter-departmental working relationships - teamwork is critical to our success
• Champion best practices & procedures
• Liaise with internal and external suppliers as an integral part of a successful engineering journey
