Job summary

Dounreay seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to apply expertise on the DFR reactor defuel programme, delivering safe, innovative engineering solutions for a project of national importance.

You will prepare essential design documentation, coordinate manufacture, trialling, testing and CDM arrangements, and provide input to procurement, governance and contractor engagement to ensure robust project performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering environment with operations exposure in controlled areas.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with contractors and project teams.
• Solid understanding of CDM Regulations, mechanical engineering principles and site control processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design documentation including reports, drawings and acceptance schedules.
• Coordinate manufacture, trialling, testing and CDM arrangements to support readiness.
• Resolve emergent technical issues from operational activities and provide engineering input.
• Support procurement, contractor engagement, governance and reporting.
