Job summary

The Pickering Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to report to the Mechanical Design Manager. You will design, prototype, and document mechanical and electromechanical systems from concept to execution.

Work with cross‑functional teams, perform tolerance analysis, optimise manufacturability, and mentor junior designers as you grow into an independent designer. The role offers development across Pickering's brands in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and standards.
• Proven track record delivering mechanical products and systems.
• Strong communication, collaboration and project management skills.
• Experience in manufacturability, tolerance analysis and cost optimisation.
• Strong 3D CAD modelling and simulation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyse mechanical and electromechanical systems.
• Develop innovative mechanical products from concept to execution.
• Prototype, test and troubleshoot design failures.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and drawings.
• Mentor junior design engineers and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Oversee development to meet requirements and timelines.
