Job summary

ALTEN is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Bicester, UK. The role focuses on developing detailed 3D designs and 2D drawings for an aerospace engineering programme, using Siemens NX.

Ideal candidates will have strong NX skills, 3+ years in mechanical design, and a background in aerospace manufacturing environments. This onsite role involves collaboration across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in mechanical design, CAD engineering or similar role.
• Experience in the Aerospace industry.
• Strong hands-on Siemens NX – mandatory.
• Experience creating detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering and design principles.
• Experience with mechanical components and assemblies.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify 3D mechanical designs using Siemens NX.
• Produce accurate 2D engineering drawings to support manufacture and assembly.
• Design mechanical components and assemblies per engineering requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and technical teams throughout the design lifecycle.
• Review existing designs and implement engineering modifications where required.
• Ensure designs meet quality, manufacturing and technical standards.
• Support design reviews and resolve issues during development.

Job Description

ALTEN is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting an exciting and technically challenging engineering programme.

This opportunity would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong Siemens NX experience who is confident developing detailed 3D designs and engineering drawings within a complex engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and modify 3D mechanical designs using Siemens NX
• Produce accurate 2D engineering drawings to support manufacture and assembly
• Design mechanical components and assemblies in line with engineering requirements
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and technical teams throughout the design lifecycle
• Review existing designs and implement engineering modifications where required
• Ensure designs meet relevant quality, manufacturing and technical standards
• Support design reviews and resolve technical issues during development

• Experience within a highly regulated or complex engineering environment
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering tolerancing
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture
• Experience supporting designs from concept through to production
