Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services

London
Paying up to 45,000

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of mechanical building services systems across a range of projects, including Hospitals, Universities, Prisons, Residential, and Education schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs including HVAC systems, heating and cooling, ventilation, domestic water services, and public health systems.
  • Carry out feasibility studies, technical calculations, and energy efficiency assessments in line with project requirements.
  • Work closely with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs.
  • Produce technical drawings and specifications using industry–standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, and regulations (e.g. BS, CIBSE, Building Regulations).
  • Attend project meetings, site visits, and inspections to track progress and resolve technical issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including tender packages, reports, and design submissions.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design for building services (minimum 2 years preferred).
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and relevant calculation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of building services standards, regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Excellent problem–solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients and project teams.
