Work on life-changing medical tech with a cutting-edge engineering team. This Contract Mechanical Design Engineer role (hybrid in Leeds) offers a 12-month contract, £300–£350/day (Outside IR35), and the chance to lead design on a next-gen prosthetic system with purpose and impact.
Contract Mechanical Design Engineer – Leeds (Hybrid)
Scope of the Role:
You’ll own the mechanical design of a waterproof casework system for an advanced prosthetic elbow.
Develop CAD models from industrial design concepts (A/B surfaces)
Design for injection moulding, waterproofing, and structural integrity
Align with electronics, firmware, and manufacturing teams
Build and test prototypes for durability and fit
Ensure traceable, regulated design documentation (BS 8888, ISO 14971)
Key Skills and Experience Required:
Mechanical design of injection-moulded waterproof enclosures
Skilled in SolidWorks, including A/B surface modelling
Experience with DFM/DFX and tolerance analysis
Comfortable in ISO 14971 or other regulated settings
Confident managing a design workstream independently
