Introduction

We are seeking a Chief Mechanical Engineer - Pyro to join our team. You will be responsible for the GBP (Grinding, Bulk & Pyro) global product engineering team supporting pyro products and projects. You will support product development and project execution with specification, design, installation, and commissioning of industrial equipment across a range of industrial pyro processing applications. In this position, you will report to the Engineering Manager, UK.

This position is mainly located in York, PA but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. There may be 20% travel required for the role.

The members of our team are located in York, PA.

What You'll Do

  • Engineering Design Review: Approve engineering design calculations for equipment sizing and design.
  • Mechanical Drawing Approval: Review and approve mechanical drawings for manufacturing and installation.
  • Project Specifications: Approve project specifications and data sheets for package equipment.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and approve quality plans and equipment Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Control/Safety Systems: Approve functional design specifications for package control and safety systems.
  • Technical Manuals: Review and approve technical Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manuals.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Conduct technical evaluations of supplier proposals.
  • Issue Resolution: Resolve non-conformances and manufacturer deviation requests.
  • Problem Investigation: Investigate mechanical issues and propose corrective actions and repair procedures.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to Field Service Engineers.
  • Document Management: Manage documents and drawings using the Engineering/Product Data Management (EDM/PDM) system.

Who You Are

  • Expert Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of equipment and machines for pyro processing applications.
  • Engineering Proficiency: Strong theoretical and practical mechanical engineering design and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Standards Compliance: Ability to apply engineering design specifications, company policies, and international codes and standards.
  • CAD Skills: Proficient in using 2D and 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • FEA Experience: Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling is an advantage.
  • Safety Commitment: Dedicated to working safely in all aspects of business delivery.
  • Problem-Solving: Competent problem solver with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization and with external suppliers and end users.
  • Organizational Skills: Capable of organizing and prioritizing tasks in a dynamic, multi-project environment.
  • Leadership: Able to lead and be an effective team member.
  • Willingness to Travel: Open to international travel to support project and business needs (typically 2-4 times per year).
  • Confidentiality: Understands the importance of confidentiality when handling internal and external information and company intellectual property.
