Job summary

RGB Recruitment Ltd. in Bristol seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate/Senior) for a hybrid role, designing mechanical building services and delivering projects across sectors.

You will work with directors and the engineering team, taking ownership of design delivery, coordinating with other disciplines and supporting refurbishment and plant replacement projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical building services design, preferably within a UK consultancy.
• Proficient in design calculations and relevant regulations.
• Experience producing technical documentation and CAD drawings.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Full driving licence and access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems covering heating, cooling, ventilation, hot and cold water and drainage.
• Produce calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Manage or contribute to projects from initial surveys through to construction and handover.
• Coordinate designs with other engineers, architects and contractors.
• Liaise with clients, attend meetings and provide technical advice.
• Undertake site surveys and support refurbishment and plant replacement projects.
• Review contractor submissions and ensure designs meet relevant standards and regulations.

Mechanical Design Engineer - Intermediate / Senior

Location: Bristol

Working Arrangements: Hybrid working available

The Company

An independent building services consultancy based in Bristol is looking to expand its mechanical engineering team, with opportunities for both Intermediate and Senior Mechanical Design Engineers.

The consultancy works across commercial, retail, industrial, education, healthcare, hotel and leisure, and infrastructure sectors, with projects ranging from smaller refurbishments through to major developments valued at £50m+.

With a team of 10, the business offers a close-knit working environment, direct access to the directors and a varied project portfolio.

The Role

You'll be involved in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects, including plant replacements, refurbishments, fit-outs and larger developments.

Working alongside the directors and wider engineering team, you'll develop mechanical designs, coordinate with other disciplines and liaise with clients and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

The business is open to both Intermediate and Senior Engineers. Intermediate candidates will have the opportunity to develop their technical skills and take on more responsibility, while Senior Engineers will be expected to manage projects and client relationships independently while remaining hands-on with design.

Requirements

• Experience producing technical documentation and CAD drawings.

• Full driving licence and access to a car.

Experience with refurbishment projects, low-carbon heating, Revit or IES VE would be beneficial.
