Job description

Teamjobs is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in Yeovil.

This is a fantastic opportunity for self-motivated engineers with experience in the aerospace industry. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Candidates should have knowledge of engineering principles related to designing products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines. Familiarity with common concepts, practices, and procedures within the field, and the ability to work under supervision are required.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility to work over 4 days.

The pay rate is £35.00-£45.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Address REACH obsolescence within the current product range, identify obsolescence issues, and investigate suitable alternatives based on product specifications.
• Support development of concept designs, including analysis, with an understanding of manufacturing methodologies and cost considerations.
• Perform detailed design work and manage engineering change processes.
• Ensure all drawings and associated documentation are accurate and complete.
• Work on complex aerospace engineering projects across various domains.

Necessary skills and requirements include:

• Attention to detail when reviewing existing drawings for REACH obsolescence and preparing investigation reports.
• Production of detailed designs and layouts that meet customer requirements and specifications.
• Responsibility for completing and reviewing drawing packs and supporting documentation.
• Ability to meet project schedules and milestones while working within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility and willingness to work beyond usual zones when necessary.
• Experience in small component design, design for manufacturing principles, and working with fine tolerances is desirable.
