Job summary

Omega Plc in Swindon is seeking a Design Engineer to work on a 5-month contract, delivering mechanical designs for generators and distribution equipment. The role is 40 hrs/week on site in Swindon with Outside IR35 options (Ltd or Umbrella available).

The candidate will need to produce drawings, lead mechanical design efforts, and support prototype, testing, and qualification activities while coordinating with Maintenance and Mechanical Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in design engineering with projects involving generators and distribution equipment.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS.
• Familiarity with MOD standards and Defence Standards relevant to mechanical and power systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes for military grade equipment.

Responsibilities

• Produce drawings for equipment components including generators and distribution equipment.
• Lead mechanical design of systems and supporting structures.
• Provide engineering support through prototype build, testing, and qualification phases, resolving design issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Conduct design reviews and configuration management activities in collaboration with Maintenance and Mechanical Engineering teams.

• Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must be able to obtain BPSS and undergo Security Clearance
• Produce drawings for parts of equipment including generators and distribution equipment
• Lead and contribute to the mechanical design of systems and supporting structures
• Provide engineering support through prototype build, testing, and qualification phases, resolving design issues and implementing corrective actions
• Conduct design reviews and configuration management activities in collaboration with Maintenance and Mechanical Engineering teams

Experience/Qualifications - Design Engineer

• Experience within design engineering, having completed projects of generators and distribution equipment
• Proficient in AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS
• Familiarity with MOD standards and Defence Standards relevant to mechanical and power systems
• Understanding of manufacturing processes for military grade equipment

Candidates who are currently a Design Engineer, Development Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer or Engineering Manager could be suitable for this role.
