Mechanical Design Engineer
Opportunity for a proven Mechanical Design Engineer who ideally has electromechanical / medical equipment knowledge. We can be a bit broader on industry background for the right transferable skills.
- Around 70% CAD / Desk based, but does have an element of hands on testing elements too.
- Solidworks experience is required for this position.
- Due to the industry regulations, we can only consider applicants who are eligible to achieve security clearance.

Salary & Package: c£50,000 to £57,000 as a guide + 25 days holiday + banks. Flexible hours.
This Mechanical Design Engineer job will suit:
- A proven Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably who has electromechanical / medical equipment experience.
- Solidworks CAD knowledge.
- Wider experience supporting projects from concept through to design.
- Flexible in nature, the role is largely desk focussed CAD design, but some wider aspects of the role are more hands on when it comes to testing, assessing quality etc.
- Any wider electrical or electronics awareness would be very useful.

The Mechanical Design Engineer job will involve:
- CAD Modelling & Design: Create high-quality 3D models of complex electromechanical assemblies, and detailed 2D production drawings using SolidWorks.
- Electro-Mechanical Integration: Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to integrate printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), wiring looms, sensors, actuators, motors, and power components into mechanical enclosures.
- Product Development: Drive product design from initial concept through prototyping, compliance testing, and volume manufacturing.
- Manufacturing Documentation: Generate and maintain engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Notes (ECNs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical construction files.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & Design for Assembly: Optimize designs for sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, injection moulding, and rapid prototyping, while ensuring ease of electrical assembly and wire management.
