Job summary

Elastic Ltd in Solihull is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Building Services and Low Carbon Engineering team. Hybrid working and client-facing responsibilities offer opportunities to lead design on healthcare, education, commercial and residential projects.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years post-qualification experience, a mechanical engineering degree, strong HVAC knowledge, and Revit proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–4 years post-qualification mechanical building services design experience.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and building services systems.
• Experience delivering mechanical designs through multiple project stages.
• Experience using Revit and building services design software.
• Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and British/European standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence working with clients and project stakeholders.
• CIBSE membership/Chartered status or working towards Chartership.
• Experience or knowledge of HTMs, BREEAM and low-carbon design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design on selected projects.
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, specifications and drawings.
• Work across projects from concept and initial design through to completion.
• Attend project and design team meetings.
• Work directly with clients and key project stakeholders.
• Support and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
• Incorporate renewable and low-carbon technologies into building designs.
• Work collaboratively with electrical and multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain and improve technical standards across the engineering team.
• Deliver projects to agreed timescales and technical standards.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services

Location: Solihull

I am recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established and growing Building Services and Low Carbon Engineering Consultancy in the Solihull area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer looking to take greater ownership of projects, work directly with clients and progress their career within a technically strong engineering consultancy.

The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of projects including healthcare, education, commercial, residential, industrial, pharmaceutical, public sector and low-carbon/net-zero developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design on selected projects
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, specifications and drawings
• Work across projects from concept and initial design through to completion

Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A minimum of 3-4 years' post-qualification Mechanical Building Services design experience
• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
• Experience delivering mechanical designs through multiple project stages
• Experience using Revit and relevant Building Services design software
• Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant British and European Standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence working directly with clients and other project stakeholders
• Professional membership of CIBSE and Chartered status, or working towards Chartership, would be advantageous
• Experience or knowledge of HTMs, BREEAM, renewable technologies and low-carbon building design would also be beneficial
