Job description

ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer

SALARY - £30,000-£40,000, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – Surrey

My client designs and manufactures bespoke equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in the Surrey area on a permanent basis.

Attributes:

1. At least 2 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation position
2. Proficient with using 3D CAD – ideally SolidWorks or AutoCAD
3. Knowledge of machinery, precision equipment and electronic products
4. Degree / ONC / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified or similar in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering / Industrial Design or similar
5. Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
6. Experienced designing products from concept to production
7. Able to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
8. Knowledge of different materials such as sheet metal fabrication and plastic injection moulding
9. Innovative, accurate and passionate about design
10. Be technically minded with a head for problem solving
11. Excellent leadership and organisational skills
12. Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

Responsibilities:

1. Being responsible for the Design and Development of various electromechanical products
2. Using SolidWorks CAD software for design on a day-to-day basis
3. Developing ideas from concept to production
4. Creating models/prototypes
5. Liaising with clients and developing solutions for design specifications
6. Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
7. Maintaining technical drawings and documentation
8. Providing technical guidance and support
9. Supporting product Testing, Verification & Validation
10. Supporting more junior members of the team
