Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Derbyshire

Salary: £45,000 (Depending on experience)

About the Role:

Sapien are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic team, providing expertise in designing and building packaging machinery, automation equipment, and fixtures. You will be involved in projects from concept through to commissioning, delivering innovative solutions and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design components, mechanisms, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  2. Create CAD drawings and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  3. Assist with writing User Requirement and Design Specifications.
  4. Manage subcontract manufacturing and procurement of components.
  5. Conduct prototype testing, machine functionality tests, and oversee commissioning.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulatory and health & safety standards.
  7. Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements:

  1. Degree in Design, Engineering, or related field.
  2. Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  3. Experience with engineering machinery or packaging/devices is a plus.
  4. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and within a team to meet deadlines.
