Job summary

James Adams is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding engineering team in Coventry. You will work on technically complex aerospace products from concept through to production, translating demanding requirements into reliable, manufacturable designs.

Responsibilities include leading mechanical design, creating drawings and BOMs, validating designs via analysis and testing, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Hybrid work in Coventry is supported.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience, ideally in aerospace or regulated industry.
  • Strong experience with commercial 3D CAD software.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and product design.
  • Knowledge of GD&T for component and assembly design.
  • Understanding of forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet-metal forming.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Clear communication and ability to work with colleagues, customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer specifications and airworthiness requirements into robust design solutions.
  • Develop detailed product specifications, considering performance, materials, cost, manufacturability and operational efficiency.
  • Produce and maintain engineering drawings, 3D CAD models and bills of materials.
  • Validate designs through engineering analysis, testing and interpretation of results.
  • Ensure products meet performance, safety, reliability and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate non-conforming products and implement corrective actions.
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers and external suppliers.

We are excited to be working with an established engineering organisation that is going through a significant period of growth and looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on technically complex products within a highly regulated environment, supporting projects from initial concept through to production.

What You’ll Do

You will design and develop aerospace products from initial concept through to qualification and production. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, customers and suppliers, you’ll turn complex technical requirements into reliable, high-performing and manufacturable solutions.

What We’re Looking For
