Job summary

Options Resourcing Ltd is recruiting Mechanical Design Engineers of all levels for central London projects. You’ll work on building services design, from concept through to detailed design, with salary bands reflecting your experience and level.

In a hybrid role, you’ll use AutoCAD and Revit to develop schemes for HVAC, water systems and energy efficiency, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams on-site and in meetings.

Qualifications

• Building services mechanical design experience.
• Experience from concept through to detailed design.
• Knowledge of HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation and domestic water; Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs from concept through to detailed design.
• Produce mechanical calculations, drawings, specifications and technical schedules.
• Design building services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation and domestic water.
• Carry out system calculations, equipment sizing and plant selection.
• Consider low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency and sustainability within designs.
• Use AutoCAD and Revit to produce and develop design information.
• Using relevant mechanical design and thermal modelling software.
• Coordinate designs with electrical engineers, architects, structural engineers and other members of the design team.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, manufacturers and other project stakeholders.
• Attend design meetings and site visits.
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers where appropriate.

Mechanical Design Engineers - All Levels

Location: Central London

Salary: Up to GBP50,000 - Intermediate Up to GBP60,000 - Senior Up to GBP75,000 - Principal

The Role

We are working with an established building services consultancy based in Central London that is expanding its mechanical design team and is looking to appoint Mechanical Design Engineers at Intermediate, Senior and Principal level.

This is an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to join a consultancy where they can take responsibility for technically challenging building services projects, with the level of responsibility and salary reflecting your experience.

Whether you are an Intermediate Engineer looking to develop your design experience, a Senior Engineer ready to take greater responsibility for projects, or an experienced Principal Engineer looking for a technical and project leadership position, there are opportunities available.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on your level of experience, you will be involved in:

• Developing mechanical designs from concept through to detailed design
• Producing mechanical calculations, drawings, specifications and technical schedules
• Designing building services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation and domestic water
• Carrying out system calculations, equipment sizing and plant selection
• Considering low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency and sustainability within designs
• Using AutoCAD and Revit to produce and develop design information
• Using relevant mechanical design and thermal modelling software

At Senior and Principal level, you will take increasing responsibility for leading design packages, coordinating projects and supporting junior engineers.

At Principal level, you will also take responsibility for project leadership, resources, fees and client relationships, acting as a key point of contact across multiple projects.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with building services mechanical design engineers at all levels, from experienced Intermediate Engineers through to Senior and Principal Engineers.

You should have:

• Building services mechanical design experience
• Experience working on projects from concept through to detailed design
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services design and calculations
• Experience with HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation and domestic water systems
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
• Knowledge of relevant Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance
• An understanding of sustainability and low-carbon building design
• Good communication and coordination skills
• A relevant Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering degree

For Senior and Principal positions, experience leading projects, coordinating design teams and mentoring junior engineers is required.

CIBSE membership and progression towards chartership is desirable.

Salary & Benefits

• Intermediate: up to GBP50,000
• Senior: up to GBP60,000
• Principal: up to GBP75,000
• 24 days annual leave + bank holidays
• Hybrid working available following successful completion of probation
