Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a manufacturer based in Cheddar. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our team. As a key member, you will be responsible for producing P&IDs, layouts, and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD Lite, while contributing to the development of a 3D library for standard plant items.

Job Overview

• Produce drawings in a timely manner with attention to detail for the projecting team.
• Develop a 3D library for standard plant items.
• Liaise with clients on design details, ensuring quality control and validation of manufactured designs.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings to assist fabrication, including general arrangements, part drawings, developments, and templates.
• Produce piping and steelwork fabrication drawings such as Isometrics, general arrangements, and orthographic views.
• Review and check detailed design drawings of piping systems, supports, and steelwork according to industry standards, codes, and client specifications.
• Prepare and verify bills of materials.
• Provide technical input during detailed engineering of projects.
• Support the preparation of manufacturing work packs.

Job Requirements

• Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks; CSWP/CSWE accreditation is beneficial.
• Good understanding of 2D CAD packages, e.g., AutoCAD.
• Experience with piping, water treatment, filtration, tanks, and vessels is preferred.
• Attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary range likely £34,000–£38,000, dependent on experience.
