Job summary

A leading manufacturer in Bristol is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will produce 3D designs and work closely with manufacturing partners, requiring strong qualifications in Mechanical Engineering and proficiency in CAD software. Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with sheet metal/metalwork/fabrication is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D designs using CATIA and 2D designs with AutoCAD.
• Liaise with manufacturing providers and be involved in final assembly.

ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION - Bristol

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £35,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for a variety of sectors, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Bristol area.

Experience within the Nuclear/Defence/Aviation industry is desired, but not a necessity.

The Mechanical Design Engineerwill ideally have the following attributes:

- Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Sheet Metal/Metalwork/Fabrication is necessary for this role
- Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as CATIA, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
- Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
- Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient using MS Office
- Excellent organisational skills and time management skills

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

- Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
- Producing 3D designs using CATIA and 2D designs with AutoCAD
- Liaising with manufacturing providers
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
