A leading manufacturer in Bristol is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will produce 3D designs and work closely with manufacturing partners, requiring strong qualifications in Mechanical Engineering and proficiency in CAD software. In this role, you will be involved in various projects, contributing to both design and assembly. Ideal candidates will have experience in a manufacturing setting and the ability to work well in a team environment.
ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION - Bristol
TERM- Permanent
SALARY- £35,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience
My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for a variety of sectors, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Bristol area.
Experience within the Nuclear/Defence/Aviation industry is desired, but not a necessity.
The Mechanical Design Engineerwill ideally have the following attributes:
- Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Sheet Metal/Metalwork/Fabrication is necessary for this role
- Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as CATIA, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
- Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
- Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient using MS Office
- Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
- Producing 3D designs using CATIA and 2D designs with AutoCAD
- Liaising with manufacturing providers
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
