Teamjobs is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our exclusive client in Yeovil.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated engineer with experience in the aerospace industry. You will be required to design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. You should have knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc., including familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. The role involves working under supervision to perform job functions.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility to work over 4 days.

Pay rate is £35.00-£45.00 per hour (depending on experience).

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on REACH obsolescence within the current product range, identify obsolescence, and investigate suitable alternatives based on product specifications.
  • Support development of concept designs, including analysis, with awareness of manufacturing methodologies and cost considerations.
  • Perform detailed design work and process engineering changes.
  • Manage all drawings and associated project documentation.
  • Work on complex aerospace engineering projects across various areas.

Necessary skills and requirements:

  • Attention to detail when reviewing existing drawings for REACH obsolescence and creating investigation reports.
  • Produce detailed designs and layouts to meet customer requirements and specifications.
  • Responsible for completing and checking drawing packs and supporting documentation.
  • Commitment to delivering on project schedules and milestones within a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexibly and go beyond usual boundaries.
  • Experience in small component design, design for manufacturing principles, and fine-tolerance components is desirable.
