Job description

2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship — we're just getting started. We don't follow the status quo; we're here to challenge the competition, and we want you to join us.

The first American Formula 1 team to compete since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives, coming off its second-best season to date in Formula 1.

We're a racing team — not a corporate machine. We have three HQs: Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK, and Maranello in Italy — each powered by passionate, loyal, and hardworking team members. Known within the paddock as the 'family team,' you'll be involved in many areas of the team, gain wider visibility across the business, and see your contributions clearly.

Yes, you'll learn from us, but we also expect to learn from you!

General Summary:

This position reports to the Design Team Leader or their designee; it is located in Maranello, Italy. Responsible for designing F1 chassis-related components and mechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication to develop strong relationships across all personnel and departments.
  • Design of F1 chassis components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Study and design components using solid modelling, surface modelling, and 2D drawings to ensure high performance, reliability, and optimized sizing.
  • Components include suspensions, wheels, hydraulic, fuel, and cooling systems, as well as equipment for car homologation and track-side management (e.g., legality checks, pit stop equipment).
  • Manage the design mock-up activities in the design office.
  • Follow all safety regulations at all venues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Team Leader or their designee.

Education and Work Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required; further education, including a Mechanical Engineering degree, is preferred. Minimum of 6 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in a professional motorsports environment or F1 companies.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent understanding of English.
  • Strong technical background in racing cars.
  • Ability to work to high standards under stressful and time-sensitive conditions.
  • Quick decision-making skills, approaching problems scientifically and analytically.
  • Ability to work well within a team across all levels.
  • Sympathetic approach to colleagues and ability to integrate within a group.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to assist others.

Equipment and Applications:
  • Proficient in CAD software (preferably CATIA), Microsoft Office, and ERP systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of composites.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to material shipment and facility maintenance.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Must work efficiently in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments, with occasional domestic and international travel. Willingness to work long, flexible hours, including weekends. Position may require lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive bending, squatting, manual dexterity, and exposure to machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.

This description may not cover all duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by management.

At MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, we value diversity, inclusion, and our employees' well-being. We offer competitive rewards, bonuses, and health programs. If you are passionate about racing, technology, and teamwork, consider joining us to turn your passion into your profession.

Notice:

All employees must be security cleared to National Security Vetting standards. We support the NSV process. UK residency for the past 5 years is generally required; overseas criminal record checks may be necessary for non-residents.
