Are you a Mechanical Design Draughtsperson looking for your next move? I’m currently working with a long-standing client who’s looking to add someone experienced, hands-on, and enthusiastic to their team. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their work and can get stuck into the day-to-day running of a busy engineering business.
Responsibilities:
Create and develop detailed fabrication and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks
Compile material specifications and costings for quotations
Source and order required materials in line with project requirements
Prepare documents and provide general administrative support to the drawing office
Assist with project coordination and provide support across various stages of development
Attend site visits to take accurate measurements and liaise directly with clients
Interpret client briefs to produce practical and cost-effective design solutions
Work closely with fabricators during the manufacturing process to ensure designs are implemented accurately
Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, architects, and structural engineers to fully understand project scope and expectations
Apply a commercially minded approach to design, considering budget and efficiency at all stages
Maintain a solid understanding of manufacturing techniques, installation processes, and industry best practices
Carry out general office duties as required to support the smooth running of the department
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A strong understanding of engineering principles and design practices
Solid mathematical and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
A self-motivated and proactive attitude, with the ability to manage their own workload
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
The ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines
A flexible approach to working both independently and as part of a team
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: from £35,000 per year - negotiable depending on experience
Holidays: 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
