Job overview

The Estates Hard FM Team manages day-to-day repairs, PPM, and operational testing for building services and equipment across the Trust.

We are seeking a highly motivated and flexible Maintenance Mechanical Craftsperson (Plumber) to join our multi-skilled Estates team at Royal London Hospital, providing operational maintenance services throughout the Trust and its properties.

You should have a recognised building services mechanical/plumbing apprenticeship or equivalent, with post-qualification experience in a complex building services environment. Responsibilities include statutory maintenance to ensure compliance with HTMs, Water Regulations, ACOPs, and Trust policies.

You will also undertake duties as a Competent Person (CP) according to NHS HTM Guidance and maintain systems such as cold & hot water, calorifiers, water tanks, heat exchangers, and air handling units. The role requires working independently on planned and reactive maintenance and participating in the emergency on-call rota, which includes out-of-hours work.

Main duties of the job

The post involves fault-finding and maintenance of mechanical building services and equipment, liaising with contractors, and ensuring compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements, including PPM, reactive repairs, overhauls, and replacements. The candidate must be able to work independently and efficiently.
