Job summary

Tata Steel Colors in Shotton is seeking a time-served mechanical craftsperson to perform mechanical maintenance within the Manufacturing Engineering function, supporting process lines and upholding safety procedures.

You will work with IMS/RMS/MoC systems, contribute to safety improvements, and assist with downshift/shutdown planning while mentoring Tata Steel Apprentices in a safe, compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Time served mechanical craftsperson with relevant plant experience.
• Good communications skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplined team.
• Knowledge of safety and environment procedures for the job level.

What you will do:

The job holder will be responsible for the mechanical maintenance activities within the Manufacturing Engineering function for support of and maintenance of process lines.

Manufacturing Engineering Craft must ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with local and works Safety procedures to provide a safe working environment.

Accountabilities

• Health, Safety and Environment performance adhering to the works IMS procedures and PPE instructions / procedures and facilitating the team safety meetings.
• Undertake safe operation of equipment within the Manufacturing Engineering.
• Utilise IMS, RMS, MoC and 4 Whats systems in line with works requirements.
• Assist with development of safety improvements.
• Proactively undertake work to SAP catalogue and produce accurate and concise feedback to Team Leader or direct onto SAP as directed.
• Take an active role in CI, for the area of responsibility.
• Undertake work on process lines, auxiliary plant in the area of responsibility.
• Undertake Zone Safety audits at a given frequency as per Safety Sub Plan.
• Undertake Risk assessments and LOLERs for activities to be undertaken.
• Deputise for the Team Leader as and when required.
• Take an active role in the safe planning and execution of downshift and shutdown activities.
• Facilitate on the job training and the development of Tata Steel Apprentices.

What you will need:

The candidate must be time served mechanical craftsperson and have adequate relevant plant experience in a steel and construction related industry. He/she must have good communications skills. Must have a full understanding of company procedures regarding safety and environment for the given job level. The candidate must be able to work as part of a multi disciplined team. He/she must possess good risk awareness when planning and undertaking tasks and be able to challenge those who do not.
