Job description

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Craftsperson (Water) to join our team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. The salary banding is £28,000 - £31,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, along with a benefits package.

What will you deliver?
  1. Undertake planned preventive maintenance, testing, breakdown maintenance, and other activities related to the water systems on the Estate.
  2. Responsibilities primarily at the Acute Hospital, with possible duties at the Retained Estate and Mental Health unit.
  3. Perform a range of Mechanical Craftsperson (Water) tasks as directed by management.
  4. Work in accordance with current regulations, codes of practice, and safety rules, including HTM04-01, HSG, ACoP, and L8.
  5. Maintain knowledge of water systems within healthcare environments and related maintenance/testing activities.
  6. Understand Legionella and other water pathogens.
  7. Carry out temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and disinfection, visual inspections of tanks, water sampling, calorifier inspections, TMV servicing, among others.
  8. Interpret instructions, drawings, and specifications relevant to the trade without supervision.
  9. Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively and in compliance with maintenance instructions.

Who are we looking for?

NVQ or C&G Level 2 in Heating/Ventilation/Plumbing, with awareness of Legionella, TMV, and Disinfection. Experience in healthcare settings is desirable. A DBS Standard check is required for this role.
