Johnson Matthey Plc in Royston is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Technician to join the Operational readiness team on the landmark 3CR Century Refinery project. You will commission primary and auxiliary production equipment and support systems to sustain operations and reliability on an upper-tier COMAH site.

The role involves maintenance, fault diagnosis, and plant modifications with a focus on zero harm culture.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
• City & Guilds Electrical Installation Parts One and Two or equivalent (BS7671).
• Experience in a large-scale manufacturing/chemical industry within a maintenance function is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled execution of mechanical and electrical maintenance activities to ensure reliability of equipment across the plant.
• Deliver fault diagnosis and problem solving to support daily operations.
• Undertake plant modification work to enhance safety and efficiency.
• Conduct inspections, testing, adjustments, and monitoring to maintain plant reliability.

The role:

• Provide a skilled execution of Planned, Reactive & Corrective Mechanical and Electrical maintenance activities to ensure the ongoing reliability of equipment across the plant.
• Deliver effective problem solving and Mechanical/Electrical fault diagnosis skills, adhering to identified work priorities to ensure that customers and stakeholders are supported in their daily operational needs.
• Undertake occasional plant modification work to help enhance plant safety and improve efficiency.
• Conduct Inspections, testing, adjustments, and monitoring tasks as required to maintain efficient plant and build-in equipment reliability.

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:

• Must have completed a recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification. BTEC ONC/HNC, C&G Qualifications Parts 1 & 2, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. - Essential
• Completed a City & Guilds Electrical Installation Parts One and Two or equivalent. City & Guilds IEE Wiring Regulations 18th edition (BS7671) - Essential
• Experience in a large-scale manufacturing / chemical industry within a maintenance function - Desirable
• Experience of working with Profibus networking would be an advantage - Desirable

Base Salary £44,261 plus £792.50 meal allowance and 35% shift allowance.

You will be required to work a 12.5 hour day shift pattern which includes weekends on a rotation of 5 days on followed by 4 days off in rotation. You may be asked to work outside of normal working hours during particularly busy periods such as the annual Stocktake period in April/May, which also requires adherence to a holiday restriction whilst the Stocktake is being undertaken.
