Job summary

Nicholas Associates is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Fitter for a site-based role near Coalville. You will build bespoke machinery from engineering drawings using spanners, torque wrenches and other hand tools, following the company’s skill matrix and quality guidelines.

The role offers progression through pay levels with overtime at enhanced rates and a comprehensive benefits package including 33 days holiday and a company pension.

Qualifications

• Reading assembly instructions and engineering drawings to guide fabrication.
• Mechanical hand tool proficiency and the ability to follow tight tolerances.
• NVQ level 2 or above in mechanical discipline is advantageous.
• Competent with documentation and quality checks during assembly.

Responsibilities

• Assemble bespoke machinery from drawings on site using hand tools.
• Interpret engineering drawings and follow assembly instructions precisely.
• Operate torque wrenches, spanners and other hand tools safely.
• Maintain accurate records and report quality issues to supervisors.
• Collaborate with the assembly team to meet production targets.

Basic Information

• Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Fitter


• Industry: Manufacturing


• Hours: Monday to Thursday 6am to 2:30pm and Fridays 6am to 11am


• Role: Permanent


• Pay Rates: Dependent on experience


• * Level 1: £15.83, Level 2: £16.15, Level 3: £16.46


• * Level 4: £16.76, Level 5: £17.07, Level 6: £18.31


• * Starting pay usually £16.46 per hour x 37hr week = £31669 per annum + Overtime = Earnings of £37000 achievable.


• Hourly rates increase with skill set via the companies skills matrix.


• Overtime rates: 1.5 Mon-Sat and Double time on Sundays.


• Location: Near to Coalville

Overview

Working for a large manufacturing business that have sites across the UK. The Mechanical Assembly Fitter will be site-based working as part of the assembly team. You will be tasked to build the machinery using mechanical hand tools (spanners, torque wrenches etc.) whilst reading the assembly/engineering drawings to ensure that the products are built in the correct way.

Key responsibilities

• Reading assembly instruction/engineering drawings you will be building the bespoke machinery that the company manufactures onsite.


• A mechanical skill set - ability to work with tools (spanners/wrenches), nuts and bolts


• Computer literate


• Strong communication skills


• NVQ level 2 or above in a mechanical skill set beneficial


• Competent at following assembly instructions
