Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is working with a Bedfordshire manufacturing team to hire an experienced Assembly Fitter. You will assemble and test mechanical units to drawings and quality standards, and work with other departments to ensure safe, accurate, and on-time completion.

The role requires reading detailed drawings, using measuring equipment, and a time-served craft apprenticeship is desirable. You will rig, test, inspect, and prepare units for despatch, maintaining a clean 5S environment

Qualifications

  • Must have around 4 years in a manufacturing environment with fitting/assembly experience.
  • Qualified in mechanical discipline or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience using a range of hand and power tools.
  • Competent with measuring equipment and inspection reporting.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience with rotating assemblies is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Assembly Fitter to join our client's manufacturing team in Bedfordshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and testing mechanical units and components to engineering drawings and required quality standards. You will work closely with other departments to ensure work is completed safely, accurately and on time.

The Role
  • Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
  • Assemble and disassemble mechanical units and components.
  • Rig and de-rig units safely and correctly.
  • Carry out pressure testing on components and completed units.
  • Use a range of measuring equipment and produce dimensional and inspection reports.
  • Safely use air-powered and electrical tools.
  • Paint and prepare units for despatch.
  • Complete relevant documentation and update the ERP system.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure work is completed Right First Time and On Time in Full.
  • Maintain a clean and organised working environment in line with 5S principles.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures.
  • Report any issues or deviations to the relevant Manager or Supervisor.
Skills & Experience
  • Around 4 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment in a fitting/assembly role.
  • Recognised qualification in a mechanical discipline.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience using a range of tools.
  • Competent using measuring equipment.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Experience working with rotating assemblies would be advantageous.
  • A time-served craft apprenticeship would be desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage workload to meet deadlines.
