Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Engineer / Technician

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (DOE) + Overtime + Benefits

Hours: 45 hours/week, Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm (weekend & out-of-area work occasionally required)

Location: Exeter - UK-wide travel required (company van provided)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Assembly Engineer, installer, fitter, or assembly technician for a role with a dynamic installation team based in Exeter. The position involves working on commercial projects across the UK, installing storage solutions such as pallet racking systems and mezzanine floors in various industrial and warehousing environments. This is a hands-on, physical role suited for individuals with experience in mechanical assembly, warehouse installations, or construction site work.

Full training, career progression opportunities, and a company van are provided. Previous experience in a similar role or industry is highly desirable.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Installation and maintenance of industrial pallet racking and mezzanine floors on-site.
  2. Use of scissor lifts safely.
  3. Work according to specifications, ensuring quality and safety standards.
  4. Assist the Team Leader to complete installations and maintenance on time and to client satisfaction.
  5. Follow all health & safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
  6. Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Skills & Requirements
  • Previous experience in installation, fitting, mechanical assembly, maintenance, or construction.
  • Strong practical skills and proficiency with hand tools such as band saws and drills.
  • Ability to read design drawings for cutting steel racking material to specifications.
  • Full UK driving licence; towing licence is desirable.
  • Physically fit to lift and handle equipment safely.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Willing to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays and weekends.
  • Scissor lift licence is essential; FLT Counterbalance or Reach Truck licences are desirable (training available).
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

  • IPAF, SEIRS, SCSCS cards
  • Forklift & Reach Truck certification
