Job summary

Royal Garden Hotel Limited in London, UK seeks a proactive Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Supervisor to oversee the safe, efficient operation, maintenance and installation of mechanical and electrical services across the hotel and staff housing. You will lead maintenance teams, coordinate with the Chief Engineer, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

• Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance requirements and industry standards.
• Ability to diagnose faults and identify practical solutions to mechanical, electrical and HVAC issues.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing workloads.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues, contractors and senior management.
• Experience monitoring contractors and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
• Proactive approach to identifying maintenance issues and improving reliability and efficiency of building services.
• Good IT and record-keeping skills for maintenance and compliance records.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe, efficient and compliant operation, maintenance and installation of mechanical and electrical services within the hotel and team member accommodation.
• Supervise and assist in day-to-day repairs and maintenance of hotel equipment and log all work done.
• Maintain stock levels of building consumables (nuts, bolts, pipes, valves, etc.).
• Coordinate with the Chief Engineer for planned maintenance of cleaning filters, refrigeration and bedroom maintenance.
• Liaise with the Building Management System (BMS) service engineer and water treatment engineer.
• Attend weekly supervisors meetings and liaise with all departments regarding requirements.
• Carry a bleep and respond promptly to calls; assist maintenance personnel in day-to-day duties and emergencies.
• Carry out monthly Ladder Inventory Inspections.
• Maintain portable appliance testing procedures (PAT); ensure work is safe and compliant.

Job description

The Mechanical and Electrical Supervisor (including Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning – HVAC) is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient and compliant operation, maintenance and installation of mechanical and electrical services within within the Hotel and Team Member Accommodation.

• Performs duties in line with departmental Standard Operating Procedures and complies with all Engineering and relevant hotel policies and procedures.
• Ensure all team members follow the company’s code of conduct.
• Complies with and applies all Human Resource procedures and policies in the Management of team members
• Ensures that all SOP’s are adhered to at all times
• Welcoming new members to the team, both agency and those directly employed by the Royal Garden Hotel.
• Supervises and assist in the normal day to day repairs and maintenance of the Hotel’s equipment, and log all work done.
• Is responsible for all maintenance of the domestic and kitchen equipment.
• Attends weekly supervisors meeting.
• Maintains stock levels of building consumables i.e., nuts and bolts, pipes, valves etc.
• Co-ordinates with the Chief Engineer for the planned maintenance of cleaning filters in plant rooms, refrigeration maintenance, and bedroom maintenance.
• Is conversant with the Building Management System.
• Checks the standard of work within the department.
• Liaises with all departments seeing to their requirements.
• Is responsible for a bleep, which is to be carried at all times, and to answer bleep calls promptly.
• Assists any maintenance personnel in day-to-day duties and emergencies as required to the needs of the department.
• Carries out monthly Ladder Inventory Inspections.
• Is conversant with Portable Appliance Testing Procedures.
• Liaises any repair with BMS service engineer.
• Liaises with water treatment engineer.
