Job summary

Arnold Clark is recruiting a mechanic for the Shrewsbury Motorstore. You will prepare vehicles for the road, focusing on quality and safety while working with a skilled team and staying up to date with the latest vehicle technology.

You’ll undertake servicing, repairs and diagnostic work, with training to become an EV accredited Technician. The role offers flexible hours, generous annual leave and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance and solid automotive industry experience.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a busy team.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to follow written and spoken instructions.
• Full driving license.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards.
• Inspect engine and mechanical/electrical components and diagnose issues with diagnostic equipment.
• Repair or replace defective parts.
• Carry out DVSA vehicle testing (if authorised).
• Road test vehicles to check repairs.
• Maintain equipment and ensure tools are in good condition.
• Follow checklists and complete documentation to required standards.

Essential Skills

• A certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid work experience in the automotive industry
• The ability to work in a competent and efficient manner on your own or part of a busy team
• Strong communication skills
• Good attention to detail
• The ability to carry out work to high standards and to deadlinesA proactive and enthusiastic approach
• The ability to accurately follow written and spoken instructions

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards
