Job summary

Arnold Clark is seeking an automotive mechanic to safely prepare customer vehicles, perform servicing and repairs, and diagnose issues with diagnostic equipment. You’ll work as part of a capable, motivated team and have opportunities to stay up to date with vehicle technology.

You should hold a Level 3 LV maintenance qualification, have strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work to deadlines. A full driving licence and a proactive attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• A certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid work experience in the automotive industry.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a busy team with good communication.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
• Capable of following written and spoken instructions and meeting deadlines.
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach with a full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards.
• Inspect engine and mechanical/electrical components using diagnostic equipment.
• Repair or replace defective parts and conduct DVSA testing if authorised.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and maintain equipment/tools.
• Follow checklists and complete all required documentation.

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards
• Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately, using computer-based diagnostic equipment
• Repairing or replacing broken or defective parts
• Carrying out DVSA vehicle testing (if authorised)
• Road testing vehicles to check repairs
• Maintaining equipment and making sure tools are in good condition.
• Following checklists to ensure all procedures are completed
• Completing all documentation to the required standard
