(MON-THU) 6 AM - 2 PM OR (MON-THU) 2 PM to 9:30 PM
Friday 6 AM to 12 PM or 12 PM to 6 PM
The Measurement Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Rolls-Royce has fit-for-purpose measurement capabilities for our products to meet business, customer, and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for the application and fitting of instrumentation to test vehicles and rigs. This is an exciting opportunity for those seeking a hands-on, non-repetitive role.
The application of instrumentation to engine components is critical to support engine/rig test knowledge. Instrumentation includes thermocouples, pressure taps, metal temps, and strain gauges. The instrumentation is applied to test vehicles to measure real-time engine stresses, vibrations, temperatures, and pressures.
The role is predominantly based within the Measurement Engineering Laboratory, with some tasks requiring work from Module Build and Test Beds within ET&S Civil Aerospace Engineering Operations.

Marking out and fitting instrumentation in defined locations on components, modules, and engines, including securing cables or tube lead-outs where required.
Interpreting technical instructions and obtaining information from detailed drawings, sketches, design schemes, manuals, and engineering standards.
Manufacturing and installing strain gauges, thermocouples, etc.
Supporting Engineering Operations Module and Engine build by leading out and repairing damaged instruments when needed.
Developing new or improved application techniques.
Raising non-conformance issues within the relevant quality systems.
Implementing effective risk management and applying HSE policies during operations, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Working to deadlines to achieve performance targets and program delivery commitments.
Supporting graduate programs by providing advice and practical knowledge for future development.
Potentially supporting projects at other Rolls-Royce sites in the UK and abroad, including flight programs and collaboration projects.
Collaborating with measurement specialists and development engineers to develop practical methods of instrumentation application.
Supporting the electronics and telemetry team with practical knowledge to modify and update test support equipment.
Degree in Engineering or equivalent, unless the role is technician-level.
Experience with electrical equipment and interpreting engineering drawings.
Experience in instrumentation application or manufacturing is preferred but not essential.
Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
Willingness to develop new skills and undertake training to support business needs.
Knowledge of lean principles and basic processes.
Problem-solving skills.
