Job summary

Pilton Bluecoat C of E Academy invites applications for a Mealtime Assistant to join our supportive team. You will help supervise lunchtime routines, assist pupils with opening food packages and cutlery, and promote wellbeing in a safe, friendly dining environment.

The role is permanent, part-time (4.25 hours per week), 38 weeks per year, with a start date ASAP. Successful candidates will show reliability, kindness and commitment to safeguarding children.

  • Behaviour: Promoting good behaviour and positive playground/dining hall conduct.

Salary: £13.27 (Grade A)

Hours Per Week: 4.25 (12:00pm-1:30pm Monday, 12:30pm-1:30pm Thursday and 12:15pm - 1:30pm Friday’s)

Working Weeks: 38 Weeks

Status: Permanent

Closing Date: 12 Noon on Monday 28th September 2026

Interview Date: Wednesday 7th October 2026

Are you friendly, reliable and enjoy working with children? Pilton Bluecoat C of E Academy is looking for a Mealtime Assistant to join our supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important role in the daily life of our school community, helping to create a safe and happy lunchtime experience for our pupils.

Your Responsibilities

Working as part of a team managed by the Head of School, your role will include:

  • Supervision: Supervising children during lunchtime to ensure a safe environment.
  • Support: Assisting children with opening food packages and using cutlery.
  • Promoting Wellbeing: Encouraging healthy eating, positive social interaction and a caring atmosphere.
  • Environment: Ensuring the dining area remains clean and safe
  • Behaviour: Promoting good behaviour and positive playground/dining hall conduct.

The appointed person will work as part of a team of Mealtime Assistants managed by the Head of School. In-service training will be provided where appropriate.
