Job summary

Expleo Group is seeking a Systems Engineer (MBSE) to design, implement and maintain complex systems for defence/aerospace clients in the Bristol area. The role emphasizes MBSE, SysML/UML, and DOORS-based requirements management, with strong collaboration across cross-functional teams.

The successful candidate will contribute to lifecycle processes, verification and validation, and documentation while applying model-based engineering techniques using Rhapsody.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Extensive MBSE experience in defence/aerospace.
  • Strong knowledge of SysML, UML, DOORS NG, and Rhapsody.
  • Experience with V-model lifecycle, verification and validation.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Systems Engineer (MBSE) with extensive years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the defence industry and Model Based Systems Engineering – ideally with strong expertise in systems engineering, verification, validation, project management, and documentation. We are looking for an engineer who promotes a mindset of attention to detail, communication, and teamwork within the team. Candidates with a good understanding of model‑based engineering techniques, including the use of DOORS NG, Rhapsody, and engineering workflow should be able to apply to lifecycle processes and methodologies.

Responsibilities
  • As a Model Based Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems solutions that meet our clients' needs. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of systems, while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Duties include but not limited to:
    • Support the development and effective use of MBSE tools and artifacts in support of customer needs.
    • Designing and maintaining requirements architectures.
    • Creating SysML views to represent interactions.
    • You are expected to be able to work in all areas of the V model where you will be able to support concept translating systems to customer requirements, through to in‑service support. You will be expected to provide systems engineering support to customer design and engineering management teams.
    • Full requirements management (creation, update, validation, verification), including suppliers’ integration and DOORS experience.
    • Documentation: Produce detailed technical documentation, supporting the development of engineering requirements and associated documentation.
    • Completion of trade studies.
    • Manage planning and work package management.
    • Reviewing, documentation – subsystems, customer, work packages.
    • SYSML Generation.
    • UML Knowledge.
    • Requirements elicitation and definition, and Use Case analysis.
    • Concept assessment and design trade studies.
    • System architecture design and functional modelling.
    • Performance assessment and systems behaviour analysis.
    • Verification, Validation, proving and certification.
    • Systems integration.
    • Model based engineering techniques, including the use of Rhapsody.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Applicable and suitable experience can be substituted for qualifications.

Experience
  • Extensive experience in Model Based Systems Engineering roles.
  • Proven experience in systems engineering, preferably within the defence or aerospace industry.
  • Additional expertise in Nanl Systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with project management practices and tools, including schedule management, risk analysis, and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, such as MIL‑STD, DO‑178C, and DO‑254, is desirable.
  • Eligibility for security clearance (dependent on project requirements).
