Job summary

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority is seeking an experienced Policy Adviser to the Mayor to provide high-quality policy advice, analysis and political insight across designated policy areas. Working at the Mayor’s Office, you will translate priorities into effective policy and brief the Mayor on delivery, risks and emerging issues.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a policy, political, public affairs, communications, government or public sector environment.
• Strong experience advising senior political or organisational decision-makers.
• Excellent research, analytical and policy development skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce concise and persuasive material for senior audiences.
• Experience drafting briefings, speeches, statements, policy papers, media responses or similar material.
• Strong political awareness and judgement, including the ability to identify risks and opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality policy advice, analysis and political insight across designated policy areas.
• Translate the Mayor's priorities into effective policy and brief the Mayor on delivery, risks and emerging issues.
• Develop clear communications around key priorities.
