Job description

At Parkside House School, we're looking for a passionate Maths Teacher who wants to do more than deliver lessons. Here, you'll have the opportunity to help young people discover that they can succeed in Maths - building confidence, independence and skills that will stay with them long beyond the classroom. Working with children and young people with autism, learning difficulties and additional needs, you'll teach smaller classes where you can truly get to know your pupils, understand how they learn and adapt your approach to help them thrive. Whether you're an experienced SEND teacher or a mainstream Maths Teacher ready for a new challenge, this is a chance to use your subject expertise in a setting where relationships, creativity and individual progress matter just as much as results.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Plan and deliver engaging, purposeful Maths lessons that meet a wide range of individual needs.
  • Make Maths accessible and relevant through creative teaching, practical learning and real-world applications.
  • Adapt lessons, resources and strategies to support pupils with autism and additional learning needs.
  • Build positive relationships that help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
  • Track progress, celebrate milestones and help pupils recognise their own achievements.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, families and colleagues to provide consistent, holistic support.
  • Contribute to an ambitious Maths curriculum and the wider development of the school.
  • Help prepare young people with the academic, social and independence skills they need for their next steps.
  • QTS or a relevant qualification/degree that supports your ability to teach Maths.
  • Strong Maths subject knowledge and confident classroom practice.
  • A creative, flexible approach to teaching and learning.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and understand their individual needs.
  • Patience, resilience and a positive attitude.
  • A genuine interest in developing your knowledge and skills within SEND.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
