Job summary

Kibble is seeking a registered or eligible Mathematics teacher to join our Education team. You will deliver differentiated lessons to secondary learners, ensuring personalised support to help pupils meet qualifications and achieve potential.

You will work across our schools with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, professional development, and contribution to broader educational initiatives. A commitment to pupil welfare is essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold a teaching qualification in Mathematics.
• Registered with The General Teaching Council for Scotland or provisional registration if probationary period not yet completed.
• Thorough knowledge of all stages of the secondary curriculum.
• Commitment to curricular development and high-quality learning and teaching in Mathematics.
• Sound knowledge of safe working practices relevant to Mathematics subjects.
• Experience preparing learners for mathematics assessment tasks.

Responsibilities

Kibble supports children and young people (aged 5-26) who have experienced trauma and adversity through residential care, education and mental health services. Kibble are looking to appoint a registered or eligible for registration with the GTC (Scotland), experienced Technical Teacher who is keen to gain experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs.

Our education team at Kibble is based across our schools; Forest View, Goudie Academy, Mirin Academy and The Skills Academy, where there is opportunity to work in collaboration with local community groups as well as national organisations to strengthen opportunities, experiences and development for our learners.

Education Scotland’s inspection report praised Kibble as ‘Very Good’ across all quality indicators, noting positive learning experiences and high motivation among pupils.

What is the Job Function?

As a teacher at Kibble you will be part of a friendly, supportive and creative team. Small class sizes (6 pupils) allow our learners to meet their maximum potential. Personalised Learning Plans ensure you can deliver the appropriate qualifications to learners based on their needs. You will be well versed in differentiation and personalisation of education and deliver inspiring and engaging lessons to enthuse often reluctant learners.

The successful candidate will enjoy working with our secondary aged learners who access Kibble’s Education services, working across Curriculum for Excellence and delivering National Qualifications as well as Wider Achievement Qualifications.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate should –

• have a teaching qualification in Mathematics.
• have full registration with The General Teaching Council for Scotland or Provisional Registration if Probationary period has not yet been completed have a recognised teaching qualification specific to Secondary Education.
• have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all stages of the secondary curriculum
• show commitment to curricular development
• be skilled in the delivery of high-quality learning and teaching in Mathematics
• have sound knowledge of safe working practices relevant to Mathematics subjects
• have a working knowledge of current subject-related curriculum developments
• hold experience of preparing learners for mathematics assessment tasks
• be an effective communicator both orally and in writing
• demonstrate a clear commitment to continuing professional development
• show commitment and enthusiasm for the subject and possess the ability to motivate learners
• be willing to contribute to the wider school and Kibble community through inter-disciplinary initiatives
• be committed to the pastoral welfare of pupils
• be proficient in the use ICT to enhance learning and teaching
• motivate, encourage and support others.

Additional Information

Safe Crisis Training (SCM)

Successful candidates will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. Please see note section below (4) for further information.

4. The successful candidate will be required to undertake Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. The successful candidate must be able to participate fully in this training and be prepared to put this training into practice. The SCM training will consist of two days theory and two days physical training. The successful candidate must complete this training in full within four weeks of an agreed start date. Should the candidate for any reason fail any aspect of the SCM training (theory, physical or both parts), an additional two weeks will be given to pass.
5. Appointments will be subject to a three-month probationary period.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 7th October.
