Job summary

Middlesbrough College is seeking a compassionate Student Support Mentor – Maths to work with learners, providing one-to-one coaching, targeted interventions and wellbeing guidance. You’ll support students with learning difficulties and help them progress in Maths and English, complementing teaching staff.

The role is hourly paid and permanent, with a Local Government Pension Scheme, aiming to boost attendance, engagement and GCSE/Functional Skills outcomes across the cohort.

Qualifications

• An appropriate Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in supporting students with learning difficulties/care, or commitment to achieving within timescale.
• Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English or equivalent.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted small-group intervention and in-class support for learners studying maths/English.
• Support learners to improve attendance, engagement and retention.
• Assist with progression in English and maths and resit cohorts.
